The Melting Pot

Juicies, this one’s a homecoming! The Melting Pot may be a relative newcomer to the buzzing De Waterkant foodie scene, but it’s no stranger to the Cape. Chef-owner John van Zyl and partner Sage Fell started out on Wale Street, spent a few starry years in the Elgin winelands and had a run at the V&A Waterfront. Now they’ve found a permanent home on Waterkant Street, and we couldn’t be happier.

The idea is still a trip around the world in one sitting. The menu is eclectic and adventurous, inspired by the couple’s travels through global kitchens and street food stalls, with bold flavours made for sharing. Can’t decide? Don’t. Order “One of Everything” and let the kitchen take you on the full adventure!

The space is casual but stylish, the kind of place where you can relax! It’s also open for breakfast and lunch, so it works for a lazy morning brunch, a long lunch or a date night. With De Waterkant’s buzz on the doorstep, it’s an easy pick for anyone drawn to cultural and culinary diversity.

A Juice tip

Start with sunset cocktails on the roof for knockout city views. Then take your table downstairs in the cosy main dining room, or sit out on the street to soak up the bustle of Cape Town’s vibrant pink quarter.
